Hazel Wells April 17, 1916 - July 26, 2009

WILLMAR -- Hazel Winona Wells, 93, of Willmar died July 26 at Rice Memorial Hospital.

The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Willmar. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sioux City Memorial Park in Sioux City, Iowa. Memorials preferred to the Care Ministries at United Methodist Church in Willmar.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home.

She was born April 17, 1916, in Winner, S.D., to Fred and Amanda (Hamilton) Larsen. She attended school in Tripp County and graduated from Winner High School in 1934.

She married H. Dean Wells on Nov. 7, 1936, in Pender, Neb. They lived in Sioux City, Iowa, until 1951 when they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, prior to moving to Omaha, Neb. for a short time. In 1956, they moved to Willmar. She worked as a food service supervisor for Willmar Community College, retiring in 1983. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Willmar.

She is survived by her children: Barbara (and Jim) Lydon of Port Angeles, Wash.; Janis (and Alton) Humphrey of Lynn Haven, Fla.; Paul (and Susan) Wells of New London and Fred (and Kathy) Wells of Pine, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and one brother.
