WILLMAR -- Hazelle Margaret Bergsten, 95, of Willmar, formerly of Battle Lake, died Sunday at Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Covenant Church in Willmar. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Linnea Covenant Cemetery in Clitherall.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to the Gideons.
She was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Little Falls to Fred and Marie (Gudmundson) Carlson. The family lived in Cushing before moving to Willmar in 1930. She graduated from Willmar High School in 1932. She worked at the Willmar State Hospital for several years.
She married Erland A. Bergsten on May 29, 1937, in Willmar. They lived in Minneapolis for 10 years. They purchased a farm in Ottertail County near Clitherall in 1947. They retired from the farm in 1976 and built a new home on Crane Lake. They moved to Willmar in 1996. Erland died in August 1996.
She and Erland helped reorganize Linnea Covenant Church in Clitherall. She served as a Sunday School teacher and participated in the Ladies Prayer Group in the Covenant Church. She also was a member of Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake. She served with the Fergus Falls Gideons for many years. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Willmar at the time of her death.
She is survived by her children: Sharon (and Glenn) Arfstrom of Willmar and Richard (and Linda) Bergsten of Monticello; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; foster daughter: Carol Klimek; sisters: Alyce Berglund of LaGrande, Ore., Ione (and Elmond) Ekblad of Willmar, Inez Oslund of Northfield, Irene Nelson of Willmar and a brother: Eldon (and Jo) Carlson of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three siblings.
