Hector man dies in snowmobile accident
HECTOR -- A 23-year old man from rural Hector was killed yesterday afternoon when his snowmobile crashed into a ditch embankment north of Hector.
According to the Renville County Sheriff's Department, Joshua Paul Dovenmuehle, was dead at the scene of the accident about 10 miles north of Hector.
The sheriff's department got a call around 5:11 p.m. Sunday reporting a snowmobile accident southeast of 470th Street and the Meeker/Renville County Line.
Responding agencies discovered Dovenmuehle and his 2002 Polaris snowmobile. A press release from the sheriff's department said Dovenmuehle collided with a ditch embankment, but authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
Dovenmuehle was wearing proper snowmobile safety gear at the time of accident.
The Renville County Sheriff's Office, Cosmos Ambulance Service, Cosmos Fire and Rescue and the Meeker County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident.
