Helen was born on June 27, 1925, in Prinsburg, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Aukie (DeVries) Kamstra. She grew up in Raymond where she graduated from Raymond High School in 1941.

On March 31, 1945, she was united in marriage to Vernon Fritz in Fredericksburg, Virginia, while Vernon was serving in the United States Marines. While living in Fredericksburg (during World War II), Helen worked on F4U war planes. Following his discharge, they moved to Clara City where she stayed home and raised their children. After Vernon retired, they moved to a home on Lake Florida and for the past 13 years they have lived in Willmar. For several years, Helen and Vernon enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Her family remembers her love and dedication to her husband and to all of their family being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Vernon said it best, “She was a wonderful woman.” Helen was always there to help and attend all of her family activities.
