Helen C. Tasto April 20, 1921 - March 11, 2009
MADISION -- Helen Catherine Tasto, 87, of Madison, died Wednesday at the Madison Nursing Home.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Madison. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Michael's Church with a prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Zahrbock Funeral Home in Madison.
She was born April 20, 1921, in Madelia to Aloysius and Anna [Cash] Kunz. She attended both Catholic and public Schools.
She married Lawrence Tasto on April 18, 1940, in Madelia. They lived and farmed in Arena Township, Lac qui Parle County, until 1946 when they moved to Madison Township. She worked for more than 15 years as a dispatcher at the Lac qui Parle Sheriff's Office. She was a member of the Mix and Fix Homemakers Club, volunteered for many organizations, including St. Michael's Church and the Madison Lutheran Home.
She is survived by her children: Lawrence (and Carlyn) Tasto, Harold Tasto, Robert (and Carol) Tasto, James (and Carol) Tasto, Donald (and Rita) Tasto, Mary (and James) Loutzenhiser, Jerome Tasto, Margaret (and William) Skold, Arnold (and Katherine) Tasto, Linda (and Bruce) Bremseth, Virginia (and John) Worthington, Monica (and Dale) Kurr, and Cynthia (and Steve) Olstad; 34 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and a sister: Irene Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers.
