DAWSON -- Helen D. Olson, 97, of Dawson, died Thursday at Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a closing prayer service at 7 p.m., at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

She was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Browns Valley to Arthur and Frances (Farquer) Wyman.

She married Melvin H. Olson on Feb. 20, 1930, in Madison. They farmed in the rural Boyd and Dawson area until moving to Watson, where for eight years they operated Watson Recreation. They returned to Dawson, where they owned and operated Mel's Texaco on the corner of Highway 212 and Sixth Street. She entered the Johnson Memorial Home. Her health improved, and she moved to Prairie Meadows Assisted Living for a short time. She later moved back to Johnson Memorial Home.

She is survived by a son-in-law: Floyd Haakenson of Dawson; three grandchildren, including Wanda Sis of Dawson; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 5, 1998; a daughter: Darlene Haakenson in 1993; and by her brothers and sisters.
