MILAN -- Helen Evelyn Moen, 85, formerly of Milan and Appleton, died Saturday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.
The service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. and with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born June 15, 1920, in Arena Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Edwin and Minnie (Hammer) Finbraaten. She attended Madison Schools. On Sept. 13, 1942, she married Simon Moen in Madison. They farmed in Hantho Township unitl moving to Milan in 1980. Later they lived at Apple Ridge Estate in Appleton for three years before moving to the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, where she was a resident for the past seven months. She was a member of Borgund Lutheran Church for many years and Kviteseid Lutheran Church since 1980.
She is survived by four children: Claire (and Sylvia) Moen of Appleton, Bruce (and Darlene) Moen of Willmar, Brad Moen of Appleton and Colleen Rhodes of Clayton, N.C.; two sisters: Viola Meeker of Portland, Ore., and Gladys Bryant of Madison; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.
