MONTEVIDEO -- Helen Gilnora Nagel, 86, of Montevideo, died Saturday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922, on a farm near Milan to Sivert and Greta (Baerenwaldt) Eide. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1940. She attended teachers training for one year and then taught country school for three years.
On Oct. 15, 1944, she married Raymond Nagel in Montevideo. They farmed for more than 30 years west of Montevideo before moving into Montevideo in 1981. She became a resident of Luther Haven in October of 2001.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and an active member of women's groups.
She is survived by one daughter: Rita (and Harold) Jans of Montevideo; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; daughter: Patty Nagel in 1961; one brother and two sisters.
