RENVILLE - Henry Bruns, age 93, of Renville, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. A celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Monday, March 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church of Renville. Private family interment prior to service. Visitation will be held at Dirks Blem Funeral Home on Sunday, March 3rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friends may also greet the family on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Renville County Hospice.

Henry Bruns was born March 11, 1919, on a farm in Ericson Township, Renville County, MN to Dick and Fannie (Stomberg) Bruns. On February 9, 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge in December 1943. On January 12, 1944, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Bakker. In 1947 they moved to a farm in Ericson Township where they farmed together for 47 years. In October 1993, he and Jeanette moved to a home in Renville, where they lived until they moved to Meadows on Main in February 2011.

Henry is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughters and sons-in-law Dorene Bruns of Minneapolis, Emery Holum of Spicer, Delma (Christopher) Murtha of Bloomington, and Donna (Gary) Beyer of Plymouth; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Andrew (LaVerne) Bruns and Harry (Fran) Bruns; sisters LuVern Engel, and Margie (Wendell) Bakker; sisters-in-law LuElla Bruns, and Karen (Jim) Polfliet; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Henry was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Holum; parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts; brothers John, Leonard and Bennie; sister Dorothy Bredesen; 2 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, 1 niece and 3 nephews.

Church, his family and farming were Henry’s life. His deep faith, strong values and unconditional love will live on in the lives of everyone who knew him.

He was an honorable man.
