Henry Knapper Dec. 28, 1921 - Dec. 13, 2013
WILLMAR - Henry Knapper, 91 formerly of Prinsburg, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Rice Care Center in Willmar. His funeral service will be at 1 o'clock Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home. www.hafh.org
Henry was born to Albert and Marie (Negen) Knapper in Kossuth County, Iowa on December 28, 1921. Shortly after he was born his family moved to Kandiyohi County. He was baptized on June 18, 1922. He attended country school through the eighth grade.
Henry was a proud veteran of World War II. He served his country from February 1944 to March 1946. After the war, he became a member of the American Legion which he proudly was involved with for over 60 years until his death.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Maahs of Prinsburg on April 28, 1944. Together the two of them lived in Prinsburg where they raised four children. Most of his working years were spent with Duininck Construction of Prinsburg as a mechanic. Upon his retirement, Henry enjoyed working on small engines in his garage. He gave back to the community by helping out people with their engine troubles. Henry was also passionate about fishing. He enjoyed spending time on the lake regardless of the season.
Henry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys; Children: Corlis Knapper of Willmar, Paulette (Luvern) Tvete of Willmar, Curtis Knapper of Willmar and David (Tammy) Knapper of Willmar. Grandchildren: Melissa (Jeff) Lebon, Colyn (Melanie) Tvete and Eryn Tvete. Siblings: Randall (Janette) Knapper, Alvin (Lorraine) Knapper, Beth Johnson and sister in law Lois Aalderks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son: Lyle Knapper; sister, Mona Schneiderman, brother, Jimmy Knapper; brother-in-laws, Howard Johnson and Victor Schneiderman.
