Hot and steamy today, heat advisory from noon to midnight
WILLMAR -- The National Weather Service forecasts high temperatures in the mid-90s today and has a heat advisory in place from noon to midnight for much of south and central Minnesota.
The hot and humid conditions will include high temperatures and dew points well into the 70s, creating heat index values over 100 degrees.
The NWS has also issued an excessive heat warning from noon today until 8 p.m. Friday for the Twin Cities metro area. High temperatures are expected to be over 90 degrees, with high index values over 100 ,both today and Friday in the metro.
Citizens working or spending time outside are urged to take extra precautions, wear light-weight clothing and drink plenty of water. When possible, reschedule the activities to early morning or evening. Be aware of the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
