HUD awards housing grant to Upper Sioux Community
UPPER SIOUX COMMUNITY -- The Upper Sioux Community will receive $236,437 to address housing needs through the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Indian Housing Block Grant program.
The grant is part of $13 million being distributed to Indian tribes in Minnesota.
"Hardworking American families in tribal communities should be able to live in communities where they have a fair shot to reach their potential," said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan in a news release announcing the grant award. "The resources provided today will give these tribal communities the tools to maintain quality housing, prevent overcrowding, improve public safety and provide other basic building blocks of security and success."
