Hutchinson man killed in cycle-deer crash

COSMOS -- A 54-year-old Hutchinson man was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle-deer crash reported around 8:45 p.m. Friday near Cosmos.

According to a news release from Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, Steven William Quast was driving a 1987 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on County Road 1 just north of State Highway 7 when the cycle struck a deer. Quast lost control of the bike and it rolled several times before coming to rest in the ditch.

The sheriff's office is investigating. Also responding were officers from the Minnesota State Patrol and the Cosmos fire, police and ambulance.
