Hwy 23 re-opens in Clara City; power remains out in city
CLARA CITY - Minnesota Highway 23 has re-opened in Clara City Thursday afternoon, but city residents still are without power, according to a city official.
Storms packing high winds ripped through the community shortly before 7 a.m. and knocked an empty, 60-foot diameter metal bin at the Clara City Farmer's Elevator across Minnesota Highway 23. The bin fell over a main feeder line for Xcel Energy, cutting power to the community.
"There is no estimated time for the power to return," said Sara Folsted, Clara City Administrator.
Xcel Energy workers are in the city and working on repairing the electrical lines.
