Ida Pooch May 31, 1930 - Oct. 7, 2009
LOWRY -- Ida Marie Pooch, 79, of the Lowry died Wednesday at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kensington Covenant Church in Kensington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born May 31, 1930, in Heron Lake to Roy and Agnes (Harder) Showalter. She grew up in Fulda where she attended country school.
She married Delmar Pooch on June 23, 1949, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived on a farm near Avoca until 1954 when they purchased a farm near Farwell. She moved to Lowry in 1996 and, in 2007, she moved to the Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria. She was a member of Kensington Covenant Church where she participated in the ladies aid. She was a volunteer with the Lowry senior citizen group.
She is survived by her four children: Vernon (and Sonia) Pooch of Farwell, Roger (and Jody) Pooch of Hampstead, N.C., Diana Price-Jones (and Terry Jones) of Buffalo, Mo., and Doris Matney of Willard, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings: Norma (and Forest) Engbretson of Cyrus, Jeanette (and Alden) Ellingson of Paynesville, Donald (and Sharon) Showalter of Glenwood and James (and Carol) Showalter of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; son-in-law: Robert Price; and two brothers.
