Six Warriors to compete at NJCAA nationals

Six Ridgewater wrestlers will compete in the NJCAA National Tournament on Feb. 28 through March 1 at the Spokane Convention Center in Spokane, Wash.


At 125 pounds, the Warriors’ Adam Sutlef takes on Alfredo Rodrigues, of Iowa Lakes. At 135, Frank Wilczek wrestles Davion Caston, of Darton State. At 149, Matt Meyer wrestles Korey Pfannenstein, of Pratt. At 157, Daniel Wieman goes up against Anthony Smith, of Darton State. At 165, Zach Revier wrestles Tyler McLean, of North Idaho, and at 285, Zane Petersen wrestles Nick Brennan, of Nassau.

Two Cards named

CLC top performers

Two Willmar athletes were named Performers of the Week in the Central Lakes Conference.

Willmar boys basketball player Kyler Johnson was honored after scoring 44 points in two victories. Cardinals wrestler Israel Navarro won two matches to help his team advance to the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament.

Three area athletes

honor in WCC

Three area athletes were honored as West Central Conference Performers of the Week.

ACGC’s Lucas Damm was named to wrestler while Montevideo’s Chelsey Hass was honored as the North’s top girls player and Yellow Medicine East’s Chyanne Sand was honored as the South’s top girls player.

Sauk Centre’s Josh Buschette was named top North boys basketball player.
