212 Conference gathering in Danube set for July 13
A time to reminisce the legendary 212 Conference will be held on July 13 starting at 1 p.m. at the Bob Bruggers Auditorium in the Danube school building. Many photos and artifacts will be on display.
The gathering is for coaches, fans and the players who populated the eight-team confederation along the Yellowstone Highway from Brownton to Sacred Heart.
The event is organized by Danube graduate Rob Black and Stewart alumnus Tyrone Wacker, who has assembled a history of the loop at 212conferencesports.com.
Corneils, Dobbelaere shine at Alexandria tennis tournament
The three-day Zorbaz on the Lake six-division area youth tennis tournament concluded at the Discovery Middle School courts on Saturday, hosted by the Alexandria Area Tennis Association.
The Boys Varsity division was won by sophomore Drew Corneil of Willmar who won three matches including the final over Levi Duwenhoegger of Alexandria.
The Girls Varsity division championship was won by Delaney Edwards of Rochester. She defeated Lisa Dobbelaere of New London in the final. In the junior high division, Kiara Hensley of Osakis earned the first place trophy with Olivia Corneil of Willmar taking second.
Clara City tennis tournament July 13
The annual Prairie Fest in Clara City is holding a tennis tournament on Saturday, July 13.
There are 14U and 16U divisions for both boys and girls and open divisions for men and women. Entry fee is $15 plus a can of balls.

9th LCCC Memorial scramble is July 11
The Little Crow Country Club 9th annual Memorial Scramble is set for July 11 and sponsored by Lake Region Bank and United Prairie Bank. The event fundraises for course and clubhouse improvements while recognizing deceased members.
The entry fee ($50) includes prizes and dinner. Late registration at 11 a.m., shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Call 354-2296 to register.
48th Smith Open golf tourney set for August 3
The 48th annual Willmar Hockey Smith Open Golf Tournament is set for Aug. 3 at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Late registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with a 10:30 a.m. tee time. The fundraiser for the Willmar Hockey Association carries a $75 per person entry ($300 per 4-person team), which includes cart, prizes and food.
