Burnt Powder fest is Oct. 19 in Montevideo

The Burnt Powder Festival is Oct. 19 in the Montevideo area.


The festival features goose, duck and pheasant hunting available at the Watson Hunting Camp, and also a pairing breakfast, lunch, team photos and a longest trail feather competition. The day caps with a Community Celebration Banquet.

Pre-registration is required for $30 and the event is open to the public. All hunters must follow Minnesota hunting regulations and have current licensing.

Aaron Johnson is top Mayville defensive player

Former New London-Spicer football player Aaron Johnson was named Mayville State’s Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Comets’ 13-6 win over Haskell University at the Metrodome last week.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound sophomore defensive lineman from New London was in on 10 tackles, including four solo stops and two tackles for lost yards, as the Comets limited Haskell to just 113 total yards.

Ticket deadline for Cardinal Pride HOF banquet Monday

The Cardinal Pride Hall of Fame Banquet will be held starting 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the American Legion Post 167 in Willmar.

Tickets are $16 for adults and $7 for children. Order by phoning Patti Johnson at 320-894-2164.
