Baseball/Softball Boosters have meeting Wednesday

The Willmar Baseball/Softball Boosters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the middle school in Room 143, across from the main office.

Rec hockey signup for age 5 through 5th grade

Willmar Community Education and Recreation has open registration for Mini Mites (age 5-grade 1), Mites (grades 2-3) and Squirts (grades 4-5).

League play is Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings beginning Nov. 2. The fee is $50, plus a $50 equipment deposit.

Equipment checkout is Oct. 26 at the City Auditorium.

Willmar Boosters traveling hoops meeting Oct. 22

The registration and information meeting for Willmar Basketball Boosters Traveling Program (grades 4-8) is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the senior high gym.

The fee of $130 is due at registration and the required forms are available at willmarbasketball.com.

Dobbelaere ranked 10th in Class A tennis

New London-Spicer senior Lisa Dobbelaere has moved into 10th place in the Minnesota Tennis Coaches Association’s Class A individual rankings.

Sonya Das of St. Paul Academy is ranked No. 1 followed by two players from the Breck School. About 75 schools play in Class A with four singles players each.

The Wildcats begin section individual competition on Thursday at St. John’s University in Collegeville.

Hilbrands, Bethel take on Cobbers next

The Bethel College Royals ended Augsburg’s undefeated season 31-28 on Saturday at Royals Stadium.

Jay Hilbrands (Clara City, MACCRAY), a 6-foot-6 senior wide receiver caught 3 Erik Peterson passes for 51-yards, including a 38-yard hookup for a 28-14 lead in the third quarter. Hilbrands has 12 catches for 150 yards and 2 TDS on the season.

The Royals are at Concordia College in Moorhead on Saturday for the MIAC lead. Both teams are 2-0, 4-0.
