Four from Willmar are CLC Top performers

Named to the Central Lakes Conference list of Top Performers for the Week in their sport are the following Willmar Cardinals:


n Football, offense: Augustine Hahn, junior QB, completed 15 of 23 passes for 267 yards and two TDs and rushed for 26 yards and two TDs.

n Boys Soccer, Offense:      Senior mid-fielder Juan Contreras scored two goals in final week of regular season as the Cardinals finished third in the conference.

n Boys soccer, defense:       Senior goalie Charlie Trochlil helped Willmar go 2-0-1 in final week of regular season.

n Girls cross country:             Sophomore Jessa Hanson, running No. 2 for the Cardinals, placed fourth at St. Cloud Tech Invite, her seventh top-5 finish.

VanMoer, Karbo gain MCAC South honor

Ridgewater College (10-1, 15-5) moved a half-game ahead of Rochester (9-1, 19-5) with its Saturday victory over the Yellowjackets in a MCAC South match at the college in Willmar. Among the keys for the Warriors were these two MCAC South Athletes of the Week:

Tegan VanMoer is a Co-Hitter of the Week. The freshman from Marshall had 45 kills in 3 division matches with a double-double (18- kills-21 digs) in the 3-2 win vs. Rochester.

Tiffani Karbo, Setter of the Week, averaged 11.44 assists per game in 3 matches with 51 vs. Fergus Falls and 41 vs. Rochester. She is a sophomore from Balaton.

Five from area WCC Performers of the Week

Montevideo’s Kurt TeBeest (cross country), ACGC’s Mitchel Macik (football), BOLD’s Trevor Nissen (football), Minnewaska’s Lacey Entzi (swimming & diving) and Montevideo’s Kailey Maroney (tennis) were named West Central Conference Performers of the Week.

WCC cross country meet rescheduled for today

The West Central Conference cross country meet has been held back a day due to wet condition and will now go off starting at 4 p.m. today at Granite Run GC outside Granite Falls.
