Broncos get forfeit win
The West Central Broncos lost to the Brainerd Lumberjacks Saturday in St. Cloud 18-12 but have received the win from the Midwest Premier Football League.
Broncos owner Steve Peppin said that a league meeting on Monday determined a “major rule infraction” of MPFL guidelines by the Lumberjacks prior to the game. He called the situation unfortunate for a good Brainerd program.Peppin said this was the team’s first “official game” in the MPFL making the Broncos 1-0.
The Broncos led at halftime 12-0 with Peppin scoring both TDs on sneaks. Ben Sletta and Chaz Powell had interceptions and Kyle Weinandt blocked a punt. The game was “clean and well played.”
The West Central Broncos play their third game of the season this weekend at St. Johns University against the Granite City Renegades (1-0) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The West Central Conference Performers of the Week announced Tuesday by league secretary Rick Fischer:

Gophers put TCU on football schedule
The University of Minnesota football program has agreed to an upcoming home-and-home series against Texas Christian University. The Gophers will visit TCU in Fort Worth on Sept. 13, 2014, and host the Horned Frogs on Sept. 3, 2015.
The 2014 game fills an empty date on Minnesota’s schedule, while the 2015 contest replaces a previously scheduled home game that the Gophers had against South Dakota State.
The Gophers have faced TCU only once in program history, posting a 9-7 win at Memorial Stadium in Minneapolis on Sept. 28, 1974.
