The Insider: KMS' Bauman joining West Central Broncos practices this week
Former KMS Fighting Saints star tailback Joel Bauman will be joining the West Central Broncos this week, according to Steve Peppin, general manager and owner of the amateur football team set to debut April 27.
Bauman, a student and wrestler at the University of Minnesota, is listed as a 6-foot-2, 195-pound running back/kick returner/defensive back. Peppin said his name inadvertently was omitted from the Broncos’ roster sent to media.
Bauman rushed for 7,409 yards and scored 74 touchdowns in high school, including 2,941 his junior season when KMS won the 2008 Class A state championship. He also won two Class A wrestling state titles at 189 pounds and a total of 14 letters while in high school.
Peppin said Bauman was scheduled to practice with the team last evening and again on Sunday. The Broncos open in Burnsville against the Twin Cities Rhinos a week from Saturday.
