Investigators said fatal fire was caused by LP leak

WILLMAR -- Investigators said this afternoon that an explosion and fire at a rural Lake Lillian home that killed Daniel Ray Rustad, 64, on Wednesday was accidental.

Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said the State Fire Marshall determined the explosion involved an LP gas leak in the small house, located on Big Kandiyohi Lake.

Rustad was the lone occupant in the home at the time of the incident.

Hartog said the case is now closed.
