Irlys Mae Guy Jan. 28, 1922 - Nov. 27, 2013

SPICER - Guy, Irlys Mae (Judd) age 91, of Spicer passed away Wednesday November 27. She was born January 28 1922 in Livingston,Montana, the only child of Edna and Luther Judd. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and graduated high school from Campion Academy in Loveland, Colorado.

She attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she met her future husband Jack Guy. She transferred to Glendale, California where she completed a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She and Jack were married in Glendale in 1944 and lived in San Bernardino, California, where she worked as a nurse while Jack completed medical school and where their son Terry was born in 1946. Following Jack's graduation from medical school at Loma Linda University, they lived in Wayzata, Minnesota for a year while Jack completed his internship at Hennepin County Medical Center. Following the birth of their daughter, Nancy, they moved to New London in June of 1950 where Jack began his practice of Family Medicine. They lived in New London until 1994 when they moved to their new home on Green Lake in Spicer.

Irlys is survived by her son, Terry Guy (Chaska, MN), her daughter, Nancy Miller and her husband, Edward (Mt. Shasta CA), a grandson, Jesse Miller and his wife Jenny (Everett, WA) and three great-grandchildren, Alana, Kaeden, and Joshua Miller. Irlys was active in many church and community affairs and the Rice Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered as a Registered Nurse for the Red Cross and served as an Advisor to the Future Nurses Club at the New London-Spicer High School. She enjoyed boating and water-skiing, loved dogs, especially her Poodles, and life on the lake.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at the New London Seventh Day Adventist Church in New London. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in New London. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
