WILLMAR - Irvin Swedberg, age 90 of Willmar died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Rice Care Center in Willmar. Funeral service will be on Monday at 1:00 pm at Evangelical Free Church in Willmar. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-7 pm at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be at Lake Florida Mission Covenant Cemetery.
Irvin Edward Swedberg was the son of Edward and Naomi (Swanson) Swedberg. He was was born in Aurora, Nebraska on October 17, 1922. In 1927, his family moved to Pennock, Minnesota. The family later moved to Willmar in 1938, where Irvin attended school and worked in sales.
In 1942, Irvin and his brother Marvin, joined the US Air Force and were stationed in Iceland together. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
On June 6, 1948 he married Doris Gadney at the Lake Florida Mission Church. The couple lived in Willmar their entire married life, where Irvin worked as a salesman for the Continental Baking Company until his retirement in 1978.
Irvin accepted Jesus as his Savior as a child and rededicated his life to him in 1950. He and Doris were charter members of the Willmar Evangelical Free church where he served in many areas.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Doris; children Lynnette (Gary) Danielson, New London, Daniel Swedberg (fiancé Judy Douglas) Oakton, VA, Joni Larrieu, Willmar, and David (Marnie) Swedberg, Warroad; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, sister Phyllis Weflen, and sisters-in-law Ione Swedberg, Harriet Molenaar, Loretta Brandt and Evie Larson.
On August 1, 2011 Irvin went to the Rice Care Center. He passed away on March 27, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Naomi, sisters Dorothy Jean Swedberg and Lois Larson; brother Marvin, and brothers-in-law Ervin Weflen, Orville Larson, Harry Molenaar and Burton Brandt.
