WILLMAR — Peter Hannig came close again but couldn’t upset Andy Jacobson in the Eagle Creek Match Play Men’s Open on Sunday.

Jacobson’s 1-up win was his third title on his home course this summer. He also won the Early Bird and the Lakeland Tournament.

Hannig, who also finished second to Jacobson in 2011, nearly tied the match on No. 18 but his chip for birdie from just off the front apron stopped 14 inches, or so, short though right on line.
