James Abner March 12, 1950 - July 10, 2009
MONTEVIDEO -- James Abner, 59, of Montevideo died Friday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo. Burial with military honors is at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo.
He was born March 12, 1950, in Glasgow, Ky., to William F. and Frankie J. (Short) Abner. He attended grade school in Glasgow. He served in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, he married Judy Kae Hokins on July 26, 1982 in Houston, Texas.
He worked as a handyman and carpenter.
He is survived by his wife; children: Jennifer (and Shawn) Mead of Granite Falls, James Abner, Jr, of Montevideo and Jason Abner (and girlfriend Trisha Mock); his mother of Albany, Ky.; sisters: Joyce (and Bruce) Bolin of Monticello, Ky. and Jewel (and Alanzo) Smith of Albany, Ky.; a brother: Ronnie Abner of Albany, Ky.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
