James Peter Harazin was born July 25, 1935 at Olivia, MN, to Henry and Mary (Kodet) Harazin. When he was young his family moved to Bird Island where he grew up on the family farm. Jim graduated from St. Mary's High School in Bird Island. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 as a welder. After his military service he returned to farm with his father. Jim married Helen Osman on June 21, 1958 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island and they were blessed with five children.
