BENSON -- James "Jamie" Leonard Slaughter, 46, of Benson died Tuesday at home.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson. Burial will be at a later date in the Benson City cemtery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church and for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.

He was born July 22, 1962, in Benson to Leonard and LaVina (Atchison) Slaughter. He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1979. He worked construction for Keith Welker for six years, then moved to Kirksville, Mo., and worked for Century Steps. He then moved to Muskogee, Okla., and then back to Benson and worked for Loral as a welder. He also worked for Dave Berens, Chuck Johnson and, most recently, for Amundson Construction for 10 years.

He is survived by his daughter: Jessica Boutwell of Jay, Fla.; his mother: LaVina Sellman of Benson; his grandmother: Dorothy Atchison of Benson; siblings: Jason Slaughter of Benson, Lisa (and Gary) Shrouf of Kirksville, Mo., and Sara (and Don) Williams of Kirksville, Mo.; and special friend: Julie Forbord of Benson.

He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather: LeRoy Sellman.
