RENVILLE -- Janet Marie Bailey, 64, of Renville, died Wednesday at the RenVilla Nursing Home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
She was born Aug. 19, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to Norman and Marie (Binger) Bailey. Because of her visual handicap, she was home-schooled until the sixth grade and then completed junior and senior high school classes with sighted students, graduating in 1965. She took vocational classes for the blind in Minneapolis and Sioux Falls. She sang and played piano and gave many musical programs. She gave her own voice recital in 1966. While living at the RenVilla, she won many blue ribbons for competitions held with the Special Olympics at the nursing home. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton, was a licensed ham radio operator and did volunteer phone work for the Red Cross Blood Drive, Christian Women's Group, and the Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Project.
She is survived by her mother of Willmar and her brother: Richard of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by her father.
