Jennifer M. Hengel Aug. 12, 1974 - April 9, 2009
ELBOW LAKE -- Jennifer Marie Hengel, 34, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Thursday as a result of a car accident near Olivia.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Elbow Lake. Burial will be in St. Loretto's Cemetery in Elbow Lake.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Arrangements are with the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake.
She was born Aug. 12, 1974, as a twin, in Minneapolis to Daniel and Deborah (Lensing) Hengel. She grew up in Grand Island, Neb. And Taylorville, Ill., until the family moved to Clara City in 1982. She graduated from MACCRAY High School in 1992. She graduated from Willmar Community College in 1995 and from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in international business and economics. She lived in the Twin Cities for more than 12. She was a store manager at ProEx, finance associate at ITT Technical Institute, sales consultant at Star Thrower and sales manager at TCF Bank.
She moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2007 and worked for TCF Bank and was an executive search consultant at MRI - the Summit Group. Most recently, she was an advertising consultant at Outdoors LLC and a live-in caregiver. She participated in the Obama 2008 presidential campaign in Colorado, Get-Out-the-Vote and numerous community and volunteer organizations.
She is survived by her parents of Elbow Lake; twin sister: Carrie (and Ross) Wubben of Buffalo, sister: Catherine Hengel (and Nate Borud) of Ramsey; brothers: Kristopher Hengel of Elbow Lake, Nikolaus Hengel (and Michelle Morris) of Minneapolis; grandparents: Arlene and Kenneth Lensing of Wabasso and Phyllis Hengel of Redwood Falls.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather.
