PAYNESVILLE -- Jerry Warren Burr, 68, of Paynesville, died Tuesday at his home.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Burial will be at the Paynesville Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 271 in Paynesville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville, with a Masonic and American Legion Service at 7:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
He was born May 8, 1940, in Paynesville to Gerald and Iva (Brossard) Burr. He grew up in Paynesville and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1958. He enlisted in the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne until 1960.
He married Jane Revier on Nov. 18, 1960, in Paynesville. He owned and operated the Jack and Jill grocery store from 1965 to 1998 when he sold the business to his son. He continued to work part time for several years and recently cleaned the Lakes Area Laundromat. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he was an usher and communion steward. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion Post 271, the Paynesville Lions Club and several outdoor organizations.
He is survived by his wife; children: Joel (and Delane) Burr of Paynesville and Jodi (and Curt) Mottinger of Willmar; three grandchildren; siblings: Linda (and Don) Jensen of Eden Valley and Kevin (and Verna) Burr of Cold Spring.
