UPDATE: Missing boys found unresponsive in Willmar's Foot Lake

Joan Mondale remembered

ST. PAUL -- The wife of former Vice President Walter Mondale was on the minds of Minnesota Democrats on Tuesday.

Joan Mondale died Monday at age 83.

Gov. Mark Dayton asked for a moment of silence at a Tuesday campaign rally in which he announced that Tina Smith would be his running mate in this year's election. In her speech, Smith said that she talked to Walter Mondale Monday and said that while he will be alright, she asked those at the rally to think about him.

Also. Dayton postponed hip surgery planned for Thursday so he could attend Mondale's funeral Saturday. Dayton expected to be laid up for some time at his official residence after the surgery.
