Joan Marguerite Undesser was born March 11, 1927 to John and Anne (Brunner) Ploof. She grew up at Bird Island and graduated from St. Mary's High School. Joan had worked as a telephone operator and also for her father who owned the Bird Island Union. On June 14, 1949 she married Frank Undesser at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island and they were blessed with eight children. She was a homemaker and had also assisted Frank when he owned the Print Shop in Olivia. Joan was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she had taught religious education for many years and was active in the CCW. She was very devoted to saying the rosary daily and knew which Saints to pray to for special needs. She was an avid reader, had enjoyed sewing, playing bridge and Sudoku, and above all family time. Joan's family fondly remembers her love of baking, especially making coffee cakes and cinnamon and caramel rolls. At Christmas time her generosity shined with all the homemade treats she made for others.

Joan is survived by her eight children: Charlotte (Allan) Bogenschutz of Seattle, WA, Marshall Undesser of Olivia, Mark Undesser of Hutchinson, Julie (and Marty) Chamberlain of Olivia, Mary Ann (and Jeff) Thole of Olivia, Michael (and Kellie) Undesser of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas Undesser (and special friend Robbi) of Maple Grove, and Tracy (Tom) Neubauer of Bird Island; her 16 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Germaine (and Becker) Weis of Bird Island, Eileen (and Arlyn) Janke of Atwater, Lois (and Stewart) Holt of Blaine, Bob Ploof of Chaska, Pat Ploof of St. Louis Park, and Ken (and Doreen) Ploof of St. Louis Park; and her sister-in-law Jan Ploof of Shakopee. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her daughter-in-law Teresa Undesser, her brother Jack Ploof, her sister LaVonne Ploof, and her sister-in-law Mary Jane Ploof.
