BENSON -- John Gregory Kellner, 69, of Benson died Saturday at Southview Manor in Benson.
The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
He was born Aug. 14, 1939, in Benson to James and Emelie (Morton) Kellner. He grew up and attended school in Benson. He then went to spring training with the Yankees and played for the Regina Braves for four months. He worked for Marv Fritz for a year loading boxcars and trucks. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He worked at Baumgarten Produce when he returned from the Army.
He married Shirleen Lief on Jan. 26, 1961, in Willmar. After 15 years of marriage, they were diorced.
He then worked for Benson Co-op Creamery and AMPI in Howard Lake, Paynesville and Alma, Wis. He also worked for Linton Microwave in Minneapolis and Prying Plank Luck in Wisconsin.
He is survived by his children: Philip (and Michelle) Kellner of Kenosha, Wis., Bradley Kellner of Lake City and Jodi (and Stacey) Harmon of Napavine, Wash.; five grandchildren; and siblings: Lois Dokken, Bill Anderson, Marcel Kellner and Linda Moist, all of Benson.
He was preceded in death by two sons: John Kellner and Gregory Kellner; a sister; and a brother.
