Johnson to chair U of M committee
MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota Regent Dean E. Johnson of Willmar has been appointed chairman of the Faculty, Staff and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Regents.
The committee advises the University's administration on quality of life matters affecting students, faculty and staff.
The committee addresses issues of health, safety, insurance, retirement and working conditions. The committee also reviews personnel-related issues and policies.
Board of Regents committee chairs preside over the meetings of their respective committees and work regularly with the University administration on the development of committee agendas.
Committee chairs are appointed by the chairman of the Board of Regents, currently Clyde Allen of Moorhead.
Johnson was elected by the Minnesota State Legislature in March 2007 to a six-year term as a regent. His term expires in 2013.
Johnson is a former state legislator who served as minority and majority leader of the Minnesota Senate. He is a pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar and is a retired general and chaplain with the Minnesota Army National Guard.
