SPICER -- Jon Alan Nichols, 54, of Spicer, died Friday at his home in rural Spicer. He had suffered with cancer the past seven years.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

He was born May 29, 1955, in Willmar to Donald and Ione (Johnson) Nichols. He grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1973. He graduated from Minneapolis Vo-Tech with an electrician degree in 1978.

He married Kimberly Kay Thomsen on Aug. 19, 1978, in Willmar. They lived in St. Louis Park and Eden Prairie where he worked as an IBEW Local 292 Union electrician, the last 28 years for Medina Electric. They moved to Spicer in May of 1993. Due to health reasons, he retired this past June.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in New London where he had served as an usher.

He is survived by his wife; children: Anthony "AJ" Nichols of Minnetonka, Dana Nichols of Spicer; mother of Willmar; sister: Nancy (and Dale) Baklund of Hutchinson; and a brother: David (and Gail) Nichols of Eden Prairie.

He was preceded in death by his father.
