Josephine D. Daniels June 1, 1917 - May 26, 2009
DAWSON -- Josephine "Jo" Dorothy Daniels, 91, of Dawson, died Tuesday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.
The service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
She was born on June 1, 1917, in Duluth to Arthur and Nellie (Sadergaski) Hallaway. The family moved to Bellingham where she attended school through the eighth grade. She then moved to Madison.
She married Raymond Daniels on Aug. 17, 1936, in Madison. They lived in Marietta and, in 1949, they moved to Dawson. She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for Standard Oil of Indiana. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was mentioned as the last living Gold Star Mother in Dawson at the Memorial Day celebration Monday. She entered the Johnson Memorial Home in 2008.
She is survived by her daughter: Darlene (and Tom) Bendel of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001; a son: Thomas Daniels in 1969; and four siblings.
