OLIVIA -- Josephine Katherine Ocenasek, 104, of Olivia, died Thursday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia, and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Renville County Hospice.
She was born Jan. 9, 1905, in Webster City, Iowa, to Louis and Mary Julius. She grew up in Webster City and her family later moved to rural Olivia.
Josie married John Ocenasek in November 1923, and they farmed and lived north of Olivia. In 1962 they retired and built a home in Olivia. John preceded her in death in 1985, and she continued to live in her home until 1998. At the age of 94 she became a resident of Fairview Place. In 2005 she moved to Rosewood Home North where she resided until October of 2008 when she became a resident of the Golden Living Center.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia.
She is survived by her two children: Margaret (and Donald) Melin of Olivia and Jack (and Vivian) Ocenasek of Excelsior; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons: Lawrence and James; and nine siblings.
