RENVILLE -- Joyce Marie Beck, 68, of Renville died Tuesday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia following an extended illness.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Renville. Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in Renville. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Home of Renville.
She was born June 7, 1940, in Appleton to Edward and Florence (Allpress) Miller. She attended Appleton Public School until she and her family moved to Danube in 1954. She graduated from Danube High School in 1958. She went to work for the Renville County Register of Deeds office in Olivia.
She married Francis Beck on Sept. 29, 1962, in Renville. She worked at the Register of Deeds office until 1970. In 1972, they leased the RenVilla Theatre for a year and a half. They also bought The Palms Ballroom in Renville that year and owned it until 1979. She moved around for a number of years before returning to Renville to be near family. She lived at the Golden Living Center in Olivia for the past two years.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for many years and was a member of the ladies aid.
She is survived by her sons: Todd (and Pam) Beck of Clara City, David (and Tonia) Beck of Appleton, Paul (and Kim Shemon) of Sacred Heart, and Mark (and Sharlene) Beck of Olivia; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her siblings: Roger (and Joan) Miller of Colfax, N.D., and Darlene (and Bob) Moen of Bemidji.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband and one sister.
