HECTOR -- Judith Ann Novotny, 69, of Hector died unexpectedly Tuesday at Golden Living Center in Olivia.
The service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home.
She was born June 25, 1940, in Cokato to Elmer and Lydia (Ruut) Carlson. She grew up near Cokato, and graduated from the Cokato High School. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a major in home economics. She participated in the University of Minnesota Band and spent one year as an exchange student in Germany.
She married Glenn Novotny on Feb. 8, 1964, in Cokato. They lived in Bird Island briefly before moving to their farm northwest of Hector. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hector, the Renville County Home Economists, Quilters Along Yellowstone Trail and Redwood Falls Area Quilt Club.
She is survived by her husband; children: Julie (and Mat) Youngman of Chaska, Steven (and Vicky) Novotny of Buffalo Lake and Mark (and Tina) Novotny of Hector; five grandchildren; brothers: Paul Carlson and Michael (and Linda) Carlson, all of Cokato.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and infant sister.
