Juhnke named to Green Acres bill committee
ST. PAUL -- Rep. Al Juhnke, DFL-Willmar, has been named to the conference committee that will iron out details to legislation designed to correct the Green Acres bill.
The Legislature made changes to the tax relief program last that has resulted in unexpected problems for rural landowners and county assessors.
"It's time to resolve the unattended consequences of the Green Acres bill we passed last session, and get the tax conformity bill signed into law so Minnesotans can take advantage of the tax benefits it includes," Juhnke said.
The Tax Conformity/Green Acres Conference Committee will begin meeting this week to work out differences in the House and Senate bill, according to House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher.
"Rep. Juhnke has both the legislative experience and the agricultural expertise necessary to reach the agreement on this legislation," said Kelliher, who appointed Juhnke to the committee.
"I am pleased to be given this opportunity," said Juhnke, who is serving his seventh term in the state House of Representatives. He also served as chair of the Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Committee.
