MONTEVIDEO -- Julein Orlando Gilbertson, 88, of Montevideo died Thursday at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
He was born June 28, 1920, in Mandt Township, Chippewa County, to Samuel and Alice (Olson) Gilbertson. He attended rural schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Cora Saue on Oct. 20, 1946, in Montevideo. He farmed, worked at Cenex and Deep Rock gas station, the Media Center and was a park foreman for the City of Montevideo.
He was a lifelong member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church where he was a council member and Sunday school teacher. He also served on the District 11 School Board and was a member of VFW Post 380 in Montevideo.
He is survived by his wife; two children: Patricia (and John) Taatjes and Gary (and Joann) Gilbertson, all of Willmar; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
