MORRIS -- Julia Margaret Gobernatz, 106, of Morris died Saturday at West Wind Village in Morris.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris with a rosary at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 2, 1903, in Savanah Township, Becker County, to Peter and Eva (Thelen) Dirkes. She grew up in Two Inlets and attended Goldenrod Minnesota School District 91. Following her schooling, she worked at home and various other places.
She married Anthony Gobernatz on Nov. 27, 1923, in Two Inlets where they lived until 1928, when they moved to Browerville. In 1948, they moved to the Alberta area where they farmed. They moved into Morris in 1952. She worked as a cook at the St. Mary's School. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris where she belonged to the Christian Mothers and the Assumption Guild.
She is survived by seven children: Janette (and Paul) Jost of Morris, Elizabeth Jost of Morris, Margaret (and Jim) Small of Noblesville, Helen (and Walter) Cleath of Elk River, Anthony Jr. (and Lee) Gobernatz of Mukilteo, Wash., James (and Barb) Gobernatz of Morris and Irene (and Al) Danko of Brooklyn Park; 45 grandchildren; more than 72 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren and two sisters: Eleanor Kopp of Browerville and Edna Thompson of Squaw Valley, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; two daughters: Edna Zupko and Marie Wevley; one son-in-law: Ray Jost; five sisters; and two brothers.
