Kandi-Meeker Humane Society hires its first executive director
WILLMAR - The Humane Society of Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties announces the hiring of Sharon Mace as its new executive director. She will work out of the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter in Willmar.
Mace is the organization’s first executive director and comes on board four years after the building of the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter. She will work closely with the board of directors on organizational structure, fund development and marketing.
“We are excited to have Sharon as an addition to our shelter staff,” Jim Peterson, board chairman, said in a statement. “She brings the experience we need to take the next steps in developing the Humane Society and expanding our presence, especially in Meeker County.”
Mace's background is working with nonprofits. She most recently served as the executive director of the Redwood/Renville Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross, where her focus was working with organizations and individuals to schedule training, various health and safety classes, fundraising and deploying teams to disaster locations.
