As of Friday afternoon, 11 property owners have registered to make their case before the board, said Tim Falkum, Kandiyohi County Assessor.

The property owners will each be given 15 minutes to make their case to the board, which is made up of the five Kandiyohi County Commissioners. Only individuals who have already made an appeal to their local township board or city council are allowed to appear before the county board on Monday.

It is not required that people sign up ahead of time for an appointment, but registering is preferred, said Falkum, by calling the county assessor's office at 320-231-6200.

Property owners should be prepared to present an appraisal, photos and other information to prove their case for a lower valuation.

This is the first time the Kandiyohi County Board of Appeal and Equalization will be meeting in the evening.

Legislation approved last year required the boards to either hold sessions on Saturday or to be available until 7 p.m.

The Commissioners will listen to testimony presented by property owners on Monday. They will hear rebuttal from the assessor's office on Tuesday afternoon.
