Kandiyohi County Board meets Tuesday
WILLMAR -- The Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners will hear an update on the groundwater contamination at the landfill and recommendations for additional action when the board meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday for its regular board meeting.
Gary Gilbert, from Environmental Concepts & Designs, will present the information to the commissioners.
The county has been conducting tests to track an underground contamination plume that was the result of industrial paint dumped in the landfill decades ago before there were containment measures put in place.
Other items on the agenda Tuesday include bid letting for reflectorized pavement markings and chloride applications, setting minimum salaries for elected officials, appointment of an engineer for a County Ditch 52 project, action on conditional use permits and an update on aquatic invasive species by a representative from the Green Lake Property Owners Association.
The commissioners will also take action on a 2011 natural resources block grant agreement extension, take action on a plat correction for Diamond Point and discuss whether to purchase and sell land.
A proclamation on tourism week will also be presented.
At 9 a.m. the commissioners will meet as the Family Services Committee. Items on that agenda include cost-effective insurance overpayment recoupment and a report on mental health services.
The commissioners meet on the second floor of the Health and Human Services Building, 2200 23 St. N.W., Willmar.
