Kandiyohi County Commission reviews 2009 budget before final vote Tuesday
WILLMAR - The Kandiyohi County Commissioners took one last look at the proposed 2009 budget this morning during a work session.
The commissioners made no further reductions, although at least two commissioners suggested they forego a salary increase for themselves next year.
They are expected to certify the county budget and levy at their regular meeting Tuesday, which is when any hold-the-line-salary for the commissioners would take place.
The $60 million budget includes increases and some decreases in various departments.
The commissioners, who are expecting sharp cuts in state aid, said they'll be forced to make additional budget cuts once the Legislature takes action to reduce its $5 billion deficit.
Department heads have been working with County Administrator Larry Kleindl to set priorities and make plans for future reductions.
