Volunteers will receive training April 30 and May 2 to visit veterans in a joint effort of the Kandiyohi County Veterans Service Office and Rice Hospice. The effort is part of the "We Honor Veterans,'' a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Trisha Appeldorn, Kandiyohi County veterans' service officer, said her office is willing to pay the training fee for interested volunteers. For more information or to register, call Appeldorn at 320-231-6226.

"This truly is a way to honor veterans and would not require a lot of time for the individual and also build relationships with the veteran and their families,'' said Appeldorn.
