Karen Boomgarden April 3, 1942 - April 25, 2009
REDWOOD FALLS -- Karen M. Boomgarden, 67, of Redwood Falls died Saturday at her home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Willmar Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Prairie Hill Cemetery in Fulda.
Visitation will be from to 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
She was born April 3, 1942, in Wayne, Neb., to Melvin and Margaret (Goebbert) Baker. The family moved to Minnesota in 1948 and she graduated from Brewster High School in 1959.
She married Peter Boomgarden on Dec. 18, 1960, in Heron Lake. They moved to Detroit Lakes and, in 1975, they moved to Ivanhoe and finally to Redwood Falls in 1984. In 2007, she completed her training and received her ministerial certificate of license through End-Time Glory Ministerial Organization. She served as a Bible instructor and in many leadership roles within the ministry. In February, she went to Guyana as part of a mission team. She also taught Sunday school and vacation Bible schools, was a member of the Christian women's club, study club, and women's federation.
She is survived by her children: Bruce Boomgarden of Redwood Falls and Carrie (and Rob) Danz of Andover; one granddaughter; and one brother: Dennis (and Mary Lou) Baker of Kenneth.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.
